In a global survey conducted by Time Out, Bangkok has emerged as the ultimate city for Gen Z in 2025. Drawing on insights from locals aged 30 and under, the study highlights the city’s exceptional quality of life for younger generations. It scored particularly high for affordability, happiness levels, and opportunities for social connection—three criteria Gen Z respondents prioritized the most.
Beyond the data, Time Out emphasized that Bangkok “ticks all the boxes of a great city.” Known for the warmth of its residents, vibrant culture, and iconic landmarks such as Wat Arun and the Grand Palace, the Thai capital continues to captivate a new generation of travelers and locals alike.
Cape Town was ranked the world’s best city overall back in January, regardless of age group.
Melbourne secured the second spot, praised for its inclusivity and multicultural identity—nearly 80% of young residents described it as diverse and welcoming, while an impressive 96% lauded its arts and cultural scene.
Cape Town followed in third place, scoring highest in the “beauty” category. Meanwhile, New York was described by its young population as “exciting,” placing it fourth. Rounding out the top five, Copenhagen was recognized for its values of good food, kind people, and a strong sense of community care.
