The Mixed Jury Court unanimously found the perpetrator of Kyriaki Grivas’s femicide guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment [1], [2], [3].

The judges accepted the proposal of Prosecutor Vasiliki Dimopoulou and rejected the defendant’s claims of diminished responsibility when he stabbed the 28-year-old woman five times outside the Agioi Anargyroi police station.

The 40-year-old was convicted of intentional homicide in a calm mental state, illegal possession and use of a weapon, and possession of narcotics for personal use (the last two classified as misdemeanors), according to the court’s ruling.

The prosecutor had also proposed the defendant’s conviction yesterday, arguing that the crime had been meticulously premeditated by the perpetrator.

Given that the defendant’s legal team had stated from the outset that they would not seek any mitigating circumstances, the court’s decision to impose a life sentence for the murder was effectively predetermined.

The judges rejected the defendant’s claims of diminished capacity regarding the consequences of his actions, ruling that he acted with intent and in a calm mental state.

Thus, shortly after the verdict and the prosecutor’s sentencing recommendation, the court unanimously sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment, along with an additional five years and one month in prison. A €1,000 fine was also imposed.
