Tempi: Prosecution against 4 individuals for their actions at the scene of the tragedy

The Larissa Court of First Instance Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges for dereliction of duty against 4 individuals regarding their actions at the site of the fatal railway accident in Tempi.

According to ERT, the prosecutions follow a supplementary investigation requested by the deputy prosecutor of the Court of Appeals, prompted by complaints from the victims’ relatives.

The individuals facing charges include the former Regional Governor of Thessaly, Kostas Agorastos, and officials from the Fire Department, Police, and Civil Protection.

The former Regional Governor has already been prosecuted for dereliction of duty for failing to inform judicial authorities about actions at the accident site.

The charges are misdemeanors and involve actions regarding the site’s management after the February 28, 2023, accident.

Relatives of the victims requested the removal of telephone privacy for public figures, including Kostas Agorastos, due to looting at the accident site.

According to ERT, the investigation’s findings are relevant to the Tempi case and have been referred to the Larissa Court of Appeals Prosecutor’s Office.

The trial for the Tempi case has been postponed and will continue in September when the new judicial year commences.
