“The Flowers Stand Silently, Witnessing” is one of the 5 short films nominated for a BAFTA award.

The film, produced by the Scottish Documentary Institute, is directed by Theo Panagopoulos, a Palestinian-Greek filmmaker. Alexandra Katerinopoulou composed the music.

The film won “Best Short Documentary” at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam and will be screened at the London Short Film Festival and the Sundance Film Festival.

Last year, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer received the most nominations and won seven awards. It was followed by Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, which won five, and Jonathan Glazer’s Zone of Interest and Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers, which each won two. In the “Best Short Film” category, last year’s winner was Yasmin Afifi’s Jellyfish and Lobster.
