Beyoncé and Cowboy Carter won the Grammy for Album of the Year at the 67th Grammy Awards, marking her first win in this category. Other nominees included albums by Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter, and Chapelle Roan.
Beyoncé took home three Grammys in total: Album of the Year and Country Album of the Year for “Cowboy Carter,” as well as Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “II Most Wanted” with Miley Cyrus. Charli XCX also won three Grammys: Best Electronic Music Album, Best Album Packaging for “Brat,” and Best Dance Pop Song for “Von Dutch.”
Beyoncé is the first Black woman to win a Grammy for “Best Country Album” since the Pointer Sisters’ win in a similar category in 1975.
The most awards went to Kendrick Lamar, who won all five for his song “Not Like Us,” including “Song of the Year,” “Best Rap Song,” and “Best Music Video” for “Not Like Us.” Chapelle Roan was named “Best New Artist,” gaining widespread recognition in 2024 with her album “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” released in September 2023.
The ceremony took place a few weeks after the Los Angeles wildfires. Host Trevor Noah said viewers raised $7 million during the event to help the affected areas.
